What is the Private Security Authority?
The Private Security Authority (PSA) is the statutory body with responsibility for licensing and regulating the private security industry in Ireland. Private security contractors must be certified to the appropriate standard(s) and licenced by the PSA. Licensable sectors include:
  • Static guarding (PSA31:2023 and PSA28:2013)
  • Door supervisors (PSA31:2023 and PSA28:2013)
  • Intruder alarm installers (EN50131 and PSA74:2019)
  • CCTV installers (PSA2006:2012 and PSA74:2019)
  • Access control installers (PSA67:2021 and PSA74:2019)
  • Locksmiths (PSA55:2016)
  • Private investigators (PSA42:2015)
  • Enforcement guards (PSA31:2023 and PSA91:2023)
  • Installers and suppliers of safes (PSA94 and PSA74:2019)
  • Installers of electronic gates (PSA80 and PSA74:2019)
